Jepson Way car park closes as work progresses

To help build a new road between Amy Johnson Way and Common Edge Road, Jepson Way car park is now closed to the public to create a site compound for the contractor George Cox & Sons.

This construction work continues to take place away from the main road and does not require any temporary lights, while we have asked the contractor to maintain two-way traffic for the majority of the works.

Pedestrian access to the playing fields for dog walkers is still available around the back of AFC Blackpool’s training area.

The £18.5m project will reduce traffic congestion on the business park, as well as providing a new access for residents to reach Squires Gate Lane. It will also create land for new businesses to move onto once complete. Support to build the new access road at the Enterprise Zone has been provided through a £7.5m grant from HM Government Town Fund, which must be spent by March 2026.

To keep up to date with the construction progress, you can sign up to the WhatsApp channel or  regular newsletter.

If you have any questions about the work, George Cox & Sons holds weekly drop in sessions for people to see the plans and ask questions every fortnight on a Tuesday morning. These will be advertised via the WhatsApp channel and newsletter. You can also contact the contractor directly on WhatsApp or voicemail on 07561 104 802.
