Highways update for new Enterprise Zone access road

Blackpool Council’s Enterprise Zone team is currently working on final detailed designs for a new access road connecting Amy Johnson Way and Common Edge Road. 

The road will be a major project in opening up the Eastern Gateway of the Blackpool Enterprise Zone, creating land for commercial development which in turn will create new jobs for the area. 

Work is currently progressing on the final details of the design for the road, including service diversions, drainage, utility supplies and plot sizes.  

Ground investigations were undertaken throughout all areas of the site during the summer, and the results of those investigations will help determine the exact layout of the highway and permit discharge of planning conditions. 

Blackpool Council has engaged George Cox & Sons Ltd via the STAR Highways Related Services Framework. The start date, phasing for the works and the duration of the project will be confirmed upon completion of all preparatory work. This information be available to comment on before construction begins.
