Applying for a King’s Award for Enterprise

Businesses on the Enterprise Zone are being encouraged to find out more about applying for a prestigious King’s Award for Enterprise.

Formerly the Queen’s Awards, King’s Awards recognise and celebrate excellence across the UK. The recipients of the awards demonstrate outstanding success in their respective fields of innovation, international trade, sustainable development and
promoting opportunity (through social mobility).

His Majesty The King personally approves the Awards and recipients often state that their achievement has opened new doors for them in terms of securing new contracts, venturing into new markets, and further developing their business.

The awards are valid for five years and organisations that got an award have reported benefiting from:

• worldwide recognition
• increased commercial value
• greater press coverage
• a boost to staff morale

Ahead of next year’s awards, the government’s Department for Business and Trade is hosting two webinars to help businesses to create an application.

The webinars will cover:

• A welcome from the Department for Business and Trade (DBT) Northern Powerhouse team
• What is the King’s Award and How to apply – Doug Mahoney, King’s Award Assessor
• Northern Powerhouse Export Champion and King’s Award Recipient
• Q&A

The webinars can be watched online and take place Friday 14 July, 10-11am and Thursday 20 July, 2-3pm.
