Over the next 20 years the Enterprise Zone's ambitions are to:
The EZ is part of a wider £1 billion + growth and prosperity programme for Blackpool and is already playing a critical part in attracting investment needed for Blackpool’s future development, with a focus on broadening and improving the commercial property offer available on the Fylde Coast.
With approximately £30.6m of public and private sector investment to date and nine new developments on site since 2016, the EZ has attracted 114 new companies to the area, supporting over 1,640 jobs.
Blackpool Council, the majority landowner and accountable body for the EZ, has secured £28.8m funding to kick start development and provide essential infrastructure that will open up new plots of land for commercial development.
A masterplan for the phased development of the Enterprise Zone was prepared in 2018 www.blackpoolez.com/masterplan with Phase One currently underway. The creation of 12 new grass sports pitches has been approved to the south of Division Lane, whilst a planning application is currently being determined for a 3G floodlit pitch, rugby grass pitch and training area, changing facilities and spectator pavilion and improved parking facilities. A future planning application will seek consent for a new eastern access gateway road, highway improvements at Common Edge Road, new employment, residential and ancillary development.
Given some key changes to ownership of land and property, the masterplan has been revised and updated to reflect these key changes and will be reviewed regularly throughout the lifetime of the EZ.
