Progress Update at Multi-Ply Site

Progress is coming along on schedule at the 40,000 sq ft custom-built premises that will be the new headquarters for local company Multi-Ply Components Ltd.

Multi-Ply, which manufactures a range of carbon fibre components for medical equipment around the world, has been acquired by MedCap AB, a Swedish investment firm specialising in medical equipment.

Progress as of May 2021

69 staff will be relocated from three existing sites to the purpose-built commercial unit on the Enterprise Zone, which Multi-ply will take on a 25 year leasehold term. Having outgrown their existing premises, the move will allow the company to expand, initially creating a further 16 new jobs and are expecting to employ over 100 staff within the next five years. The new site also provides the company with land for further expansion in the future if required.

“We are delighted that work is progressing well on this site as it is so strategically important for Blackpool. We were pleased to be awarded a Considerate Constructor “Performance beyond Compliance” score for the first visit carried out on the project, which reflects our commitment to safety, employees, the community, the environment and the appearance of the site. As part of our environmental commitment, the site has Electric Vehicle charging points installed, a number of which are available to employees during the construction phase and which will then form part of the facility once handed over.” Stephen Knowles, Special Projects Manager, Eric Wright Construction.

The development is part funded by Lancashire Enterprise Partnership’s Growth Deal Funding.
