Fylde Council has granted planning approval for the next stage of the Blackpool Airport Enterprise Zone.
The updated plans, submitted last year, include the creation of new business and industrial units, a multi-purpose local hub and a new eastern gateway access road. The approvals were also granted by Blackpool Council in January 2023, as the Enterprise Zone sits across both borough boundaries.
Approval for the plans mean the team can now press ahead with plans for the Eastern Gateway, a 10.5ha industrial area, comprising eight new commercial units, along with a second link road on to the business park connecting Common Edge Road with Amy Johnson Way.
The planning application for the land follows on from the improvement to the sports pitches at Common Edge and Collins Park. The new £6m community sports village opened earlier this summer.
Design work for the new Eastern Gateway is under way, with an updated timeline and programme to be shared later this year.
Electricity supply for the site was also secured earlier this summer.
